My description: This course is an introductory level class for biology. This class most prominently focuses on smaller scale biology topics such as cells and cell function but also touches on genetics and energetics. The majority of the big concepts in biology will be covered in this class.
This course is an introduction for students to basic concepts and unifying principles of biology. Topics covered include cell and molecular biology, genetics, and energetics. Laboratory sessions are an integral part of the course.
Key Concept I learned: I liked the unit on genetics the most as I had done the cellular portion of biology several times before and didn’t learn many new concepts. However, I thought it was incredibly interesting to see just how much our parents genetic makeup affects our own and the way in which our parents DNA is “split” to make a new set of DNA: you. I also really enjoyed the labs that went along with this unit and found them very helpful.
Past Work: Below I have included a Lab Study guide we compiled before the final exam for the final portion of our grade in this course! Again we were given a document with several questions regarding what would be on the test, in which we were supposed to fill out for our own study purposes. From this study guide, I tended to write things out on my white board or search for them in the book as opposed to making a very long study guide. I felt that seeing single questions in biology and tackling it question by question was my best bet for success in the tests.
